The German football club Werder Bremen has officially entered the esports space: With the release of FIFA 19 on the 9th of June, the club will sign a FIFA player for their esports division.

The deal is made in cooperation with STARK eSports, a German esports agency dedicated to FIFA in particular. The agency works with clubs like VFL Wolfsburg, VFB Stuttgart and Hertha BSC.

It is currently unclear who will compete for Werder’s FIFA 19 team. However, Michael Bittner, aka MegaBit, recently tweeted that he won’t renew his contract with VFL Bochum.

MegaBit is one of the best XBOX-players in the world and also managed by STARK eSports. It doesn’t seem unlikely that he might play for the Green-Whites in the future.
