The Swedish football club Östersunds FK has officially entered esports with a League of Legends team.
The Allsvenskan club will participate in the Swedish Esports League (SEL) by Challenger Mode.
The winner of this league championship gets a chance to promote to the Nordic League organized by Riot – which includes teams like Origen’s Academy team.
According to Östersunds coach Jake “Mora” Hammond, the European Masters tournament is the eventual goal of the team.
The League of Legends squad will consist of the following players:
Top – Felix “Kryze” Hellström
Jungle – Theodor “Skeden” Nagelkerke
Mid – Andreas “Addex” Blikfeldt
AD Carry – Mikael “Namex” Axelsson
Support – Alexander “Krallex” Ramlinger
Östersunds will be the first Swedish football club entering esports. Sweden has a long and prospering history with developing League of Legends talent, with players like Rekkles, Hjarnan, Betsy, and Treatz coming from this country.
