The EU LCS rebrands to the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) starting with the 2019 Season

The League of Legends European Championship, short “LEC”, will be the new premier League of Legends competition in Europe. Starting with the 2019 Spring Split, the European Championship Series (EU LCS) will be rebranded to the new league & logo identity.

On November 9th, Riot Games filed a trademark application revealing the name as well as the logo of the new league. The former logo that looked very similar to the one of the North American Championship Series (NA LCS) will be replaced by a combination of a word mark and a picture mark.

“The mark consists of the words “LEAGUE OF LEGENDS EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP” appearing to the right of a crown design”, the application reads.

The official announcement of the league system and the teams participating in it is expected for today, 14:30 CEST.
